RP notes
Because I want to jot my ideas down and ya’ll can deal with it.
Were(creature)s - Everything from werewolves to weregeckos. Weres change at the full moon and it’s the whole transformation into the animal. Weres tend to run on base instincts when they turn, especially during their first transformations, often becoming more violent due to the pain of the transformation. With guidance though, they can often go through easier transitions. They are not mortal but it takes a lot more to kill them than a normal human. *Bridget, I will refer to your edits and additions to this when you wake up, since you’re the one that usually takes these guys.*
Shifters - These are creatures who can change their appearence at will, from minor body morphs to completely new appearences. It takes a lot of energy to maintain a shift though, so many shifters have an extremely high intake of foods to keep them from collapsing in exhaustion. Most Shifters stay within the human category of changes but some do have a talent for manifesting non-human traits. The most talented shifters can completely change forms, though it’s usually at an extremely high expense to their health if done for a long period of time. Shifters will live forever unless killed. They age extremely slowly but never seem to age past their mid 40ss/early 50s (physically).
Chimeras - These creatures are a mix between human and animal, and depending on liniage, they could be a mix of a single animal or multiple animals. Even when presenting as human, most Chimeras retain some of their animal features (tail, fur, scales, tongue, pawpads, etc etc). The amount of animal that shows when human is dependent on how strong the bloodline is. If a Chimera has children with a non-chimera, usually the traits become watered down. Chimera do have the ability to shift into animal form, but it requires a lot of focus and a strong mental state. Most Chimera’s grow up learning how to meditate and center their focus. (note: any Chimera with multiple creatures in their bloodline will shift into an amalgamation of those creatures. A Chimera with a single creature bloodline will simply shift into that creature.) Chimera’s can get stuck in either form if they don’t have the proper training to shift out of it. Chimera usually display personality traits derived from their creatures as well. They have longer lifespans (3x-4x longer than a human’s?) but can become ill and will grow old and pass away.
Vampires - Pretty standard fare, though not all vamps are doom and gloom. Many vampires do tend to avoid killing if possible. Feeding more frequently and more throughly makes them both stronger and more “human” physically (warmer skin, rosier cheeks). Vampires who tend to hold back on feedings are very cold, pale, and gaunt and usually look a bit on the ill side. They will not die from natural causes and will live forever unless killed. *again, I’m letting you give me the info on this one, Bridget*
Angels, Demons, and Gods - Everything religion has come up with has some basis in reality. In the afterlife, everything and everyone has some sort of job or function to perform. Most recently passed humans go in entry level and become low level “citizens”. Promising individuals are shuffled into jobs (Herald, Reaper, Messenger, Protector/Guardien, etc). Ranks are applied, and with the higher ranks comes more power. They can be killed, but no one outside of the Gods themselves know how.
